Homeopathy Q & A

Integrative Pediatric Health Care

Pediatrics DenverWhat is homeopathy?

Homeopathy, or homeopathic medicine, is viewpoint and tradition within the medical field which is based on the concept that the body has within it the ability to heal itself. Homeopathic medicine also perceives symptoms as normal reactions of the body when it is working to reclaim health. Homeopathic medicine works to enhance the body's natural healing and self-adjusting progressions. A homeopathic health practitioner, or homeopath, often uses pills or liquid mixtures which contain a small amount of an active ingredient, generally a plant or mineral, to treat a disease or illness. These are frequently referred to as highly diluted or potentiated substances. Certain types of solutions and homeopathic medicine have been researched by medical professional and have found to be beneficial.

What is homeopathy used for?

Homeopathy has been used to sustain health and address some long-term diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, allergies, atopic dermatitis, and irritable bowel syndrome. Homeopathy can also be used to treat minor injuries including cuts, scrapes, and muscle strains or sprains. Homeopathic treatment may not be appropriate on its own for every type of illness, however. The office will go over all the treatment options with parents to ensure their child receives the best possible care.

Is homeopathy safe?

Since 1938, homeopathic remedies have been monitored in the United States and are considered safe. At Integrative Pediatric Health Care, we will work with parents to help decide when to use the available homeopathic remedies. We will have a complete understanding of the child’s health which will help determine what homeopathic remedies to use and when. Homeopathic remedies will work together with conventional treatments for many health concerns, and only the most suitable options will be chosen as a course of treatment. For more information about what types of homeopathic treatments are available through the practice and to determine if they are right for your child, contact the office to schedule a consultation appointment today.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique which reduces stress, helps encourage relaxation, and promotes healing. It is performed by "laying hands on" and is formed around the belief that an unseen "life force energy" flows through people, giving life. If a person’s energy is low, then he or she is at a greater risk for sickness and stress. When high, people are more likely to be happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words. Rei meaning "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki meaning "life force energy." Treatment has been said to feel like a wonderful glowing radiance which flows through and around the body. Reiki treats the whole person- body, emotions, mind, and spirit. It holds many benefits including relaxation and feelings of peace, security, and wellbeing. Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement which everyone can enjoy. It has been successful when aiding virtually every known illness and malady. It can also be used with other treatments to help address side effects and unwanted symptoms.
